Root Canal Treatment Chicago

Targeting the Root to Alleviate Your Pain

Inside of every tooth is the pulp – an area that consists of nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Its purpose is to provide nutrients and function to the tooth; however, when damaged or infected, it can cause significant pain. Root canal treatment can remove the source of the discomfort while also saving it from extraction. Let us know if you have a painful tooth and need fast relief.

What Happens During a Root Canal?

Dr. Rosen will use our CT/cone beam scanner to analyze the severity of the infection or damage caused to the pulp to plan your root canal procedure. This requires providing local anesthesia to numb your mouth before isolating the tooth with a non-latex dental dam. He will access the pulp through the crown and begin cleaning out the root canals and pulp chamber. Once the damaged pulp has been removed, he will sanitize and reshape the canals to ensure they are ready for the gutta-percha – a biocompatible material designed to fill the space previously occupied by the pulp.

After sealing the opening in the crown with a dental filling, he will have a customized dental crown created, which will be placed over the tooth for maximum protection.
